A Children's Water Festival for 4th Grade Students in
Weld, Morgan & Adams Counties in Colorado

The Central Colorado Water Conservancy District created the Children's Water Festival in 1991. This festival is one of the oldest children's water festivals in the nation. In 2006, the City of Greeley Water Conservation and Stormwater programs began co-sponsoring the event.  In 2011, the West Greeley Conservation District became a co-sponsor of the festival. The 2012 Festival is scheduled on April 25 at Island Grove Regional Park. The festival begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m.

The Children's Water Festival in Greeley is a free event for 4th grade students in Weld, Morgan and Adams Counties. The water festival brings water professionals from around Colorado to provide presentations and activities about water, conservation, human health, and aquatic life, while covering a wide range of curriculum areas including language arts, math, science, social studies, visual art, and health. The festival goals are to teach students that water is an essential, limited resource and that they can take action. The event provides teachers with materials and lessons that they can use for years to come.

Colorado Water 2012

The Children's Water Festival theme for 2012 is Colorado Water.

2012 is a milestone for Colorado's water. It's an epic anniversary for the legislation and organizations that built the foundation for today's water management across the state. The Colorado Water 2012 initiative is a statewide celebration of water, its uses and its value.
